28 things I love, in honor of Valentine’s Day
It’s the little things
Last year around this time, I wrote a list of twenty-eight things I love — life’s small pleasures that bring me major joy — in honor of Valentine’s Day. I had so much fun creating the list that I decided to do it again.
I drafted forty-five items (one for each year I’ve been alive), then realized several were redundant with what I wrote last year. Given that, I cut it down to twenty-eight again — one for each day of February. Consider this list an addendum to last year’s!
Here goes, in no particular order…
Strong, frothy coffee
My kids’ giggles
Watching baptisms at church (anyone else cry every time?)
Truffle fries
Books — always
Weekly walks/vent sessions with my bff
Hanging out with my husband (bonus points if we laugh a lot)
Shopping my closet and putting together a “new” outfit that I love
The calm that washes over me when I practice hand-lettering
Changing into PJs when I get home
Finding the perfect lipstick or lip gloss shade (why is it so difficult?)
When I’m struck by a song lyric, line of poetry, or movie/TV show dialogue
A great pen that glides across the page and somehow makes my handwriting better
Any stationery, really
The smell of babies and puppies
Finding the perfect gift
Stumbling across a little free library
How my dog is constantly amazed by tennis balls, as though he’s seeing them for the first time
My kids’ creativity in action
Seeing live music performances
The energy of cities
Mentoring and teaching others
Big, furry blankets
A great workout that leaves me exhausted and exhilarated
Exploring new places or trying something new
Catching up with friends
Being surprised (when it’s a good one)
The serene stillness of mornings

Feeling inspired to create my own list as well, the feeling exhausted after a workout if a personal favorite; feeling like i actually did something
This is so fun and now I want to make my own list!
